Established in 2009, Groomers Connection Academy is an educational institution providing uncompromised education for aspiring professional pet groomer to be. Located at Kuala Lumpur, our students can be academically and socially rewarded.

Groomers Connection Academy officially received the International Accreditation in 2009, and today it is still the only International Accredited Pet Grooming Academy in Malaysia.

In 2011, Groomers Connection Academy was presented with a prestigious award, which is SME100 award for being Malaysia Fast Moving Company. Thus, become the Fastest Growing Pet Grooming Academy in Malaysia!

We would like to thanks KKB Farm for having us.

It was an eye opener and experience for all our students.

We had a wonderful time with all the doggies and most importantly, we left the place feeling delighted for all the dogs there. This is because all the dogs felt refresh, joyful and happy after been pampered by us the whole day.

We believe KKB Farm would welcome volunteers and sponsorships (dog food and etc.) from all the dogs lover in Malaysia.

For those of you whom are wondering what does KKB stands for? It is actually Kuala Kubu Baru. ☺

Mr Sathit, the excellent teacher from Starwood, Thailand, whom has won numerous awards and was invited to many countries including New York to perform pet fashion show.

Moreover, our instructors were given the golden opportunity to be involved in ‘behind the scene’ on preparation for the pet fashion show held in Mid Valley, Malaysia few months back. Your noble way of teaching method has inspired us so much to build our own empire in continuing teaching the beauty and art of grooming.

Learning pet grooming from Groomers Connection School - Why & How? (Dog Grooming Tips) Part 1

~FAQ~

Why my dog doesn’t like me to brush but he seems to enjoy the brushing at the groomers workstation by lying down comfortably!!

Answer: Are you brushing their hair or pulling their hair?? Use short stroke with the correct brush (slicker brush work perfectly in most of the dog breed comfortably) and DO NOT pull the hair from shaft to the tip especially with matted/tangled hair. You may need to repeat the short stroke many times before you can achieve the fluffy effect. As for matted/tangled hair, proper dematting skill is needed. Gently use your finger in a zigzag way to open up the matts. Once the knot is loosen up, it shall be followed by the same gentle brushing. Always try brushing the same strength on your own hair to feel whether does it hurt!

Why my dog always struggle when I hold on to him? He doesn't love me...............

Answer: Ask yourself…do u let him/her go when they struggle? If the answer is yes, then they have ‘won’ the battle! They know this is the way to get rid of you. In dogs world, struggling does not mean they hate you, their love is infinity. As they love to live in the pack, you gotto know how to make them love you. Which is, make yourself the leader of the pack!

As long as you are not hurting the dog, hold firmly and gently finish the task you want to perform on them. Do not let go! (PLEASE let go if you are hurting them) If you are in doubt whether you are hurting them, reposition your grip and say 'stay'. Please imagine! The strength should NOT be as though like you are fighting with your bf/gf. It should be something like when you are holding the small kid when you forbid the kid from doing something wrong.

Of course, you should then associate it with good thing rather than punishment. For example, give a treat after the session or praise them with sincere heart... they know when you are faking it!

Why my dog is dragging its rear (‘ass’) on the ground? Maybe they are wiping their 'backside' ? :P

Answer: Apparently, his/her anal gland is disturbing and needs to be expressed out. The discomfort of the impacted anal gland is called scooting. If not cleared, it will caused fever, infections and other disease. Consult your vet or groomer to have them released or engage with us to find out more in helping your doggie by your own!

To Joe, thanks to your gift, communication between the two floors has improved. For the readers info, Groomers Connection Academy is above Puppy Cottage. Oh yea, forgot to mention the item, it is a phone. A magical item that enable us to gain weight. :P

We would also like to thanks Mrs. Law for preparing a sumptuous meal for our fellow guests. It is delicious and all the guests love the delicacies prepared by Mrs. Law. In addition, we would also like to forward our gratitude to our grandma for preparing few vegetarian dishes for our vegetarian customers. They do appreciate it a lot. :)

To the Leong family, Yeoh family and Elegant Living Sdn Bhd, thanks for the beautiful and wonderful flowers. Had it display in a nicest corner and it blend in well with the interior design.

Definition of Professional according to www.dictionary.com:

• A skilled practitioner; an expert.
• Conforming to the standards of a profession: Professional Behaviour.

Grooming is an art! There is no correct or wrong method in beautifying a dog as long as we have the basic fundamental of grooming and knows the overall well being of the dog.

Professional Groomer should continue to enrich themselves, continue to strives to be better, opened ourselves to new ideas, talk with other groomers and stayed out of gossip and politics which will reflect our professionalism.

Fleas are small brown wingless insects about 1/8” long. They have the ability to jump and crawl rapidly from one host to another.

The flea is the leading cause of skin disorders in dogs. Fleas are also carriers of other diseases. For example, the flea serves as the intermediate host for some species of tapeworm.

Fleas pass through four stages of development:

- Egg stage or ovum
- Larval stage
- Pupae stage
- Parasitic adult stage

The female usually lay its eggs in the animal’s sleeping quarters, and your home, but eggs may also be laid on the animal. The adult flea actually lives very little time on the host; they jump on to feed and then return to the environment.
